From The Producing Artistic Director

The past 2 years have been incredibly challenging for everyone and few industries have struggled more than the arts.  But here we are.  Many of us survived and found ways to stay creative.  There was a cost, without question, but to every other arts organization who is still here and still bringing passion and humanity to life through creative expression, Falcon lifts a glass in respect, honor and kinship.

Falcon’s unofficial theme for this season is “Fill the Space” and that has many meanings.  Falcon, as with many other theaters, is still seeing smaller audiences than we did in early 2020 so, yes, we want to make sure we’re filling seats in our theater.  But “Fill the Space” is a much broader goal.  We want to fill our space with the conversations, emotions and connections that audiences and artists share when we meet in a dark theater and travel to a different world for a short time.  Theatre unites people in a way nothing else can…it gives us a glimpse into the minds, hearts and lives of others.  And there has never been a time in history when that has been more important than it is today.

We also want to “Fill the Space” with new ideas.  Theatre is about creativity and Falcon has always been dedicated to encouraging creativity and originality.  Our season this year is what we always strive for…a unique collection of work that offers a vast universe of experiences for our artists and our audiences.

And, of course, we want to “Fill the Space” with you….our dedicated audience of fans who love what we do. So this year, when you come to Falcon, help us not only share with you, our life-long friends, but help us make new friends.  Bring someone with you…maybe even someone who has never experienced the transformative power of a live theatre production.  Together we will ensure that the arts thrive in Newport and that this region continues to grow as a home for working, professional artists.

Together we will fill this space with ideas, friends, innovation and joy.  Welcome to Falcon Theatre.

Sincerely,
Ted Weil

She does outreach for the company by doing Tax Talks at local universities and theatres about the taxes for folks in the arts. And special thanks to Steve Irwin, Joe Kovacs, and Troy Lynch. Couldn’t have done it without you!

He thanks his parents for their unconditional support and love.

Nora Kovasckitz (Red) is a third year BFA Acting student at University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. Within CCM you may have seen her in Blue Stockings as Billy and Professor Radleigh, or Dipsas in Lysistrata. She also has been a part of many community theatre productions. Most notably, she received an Orchid Award for Best Actor in a Play for her role as Annie in Over the Tavern with Beechmont Players. Nora would like to thank you for your support and hopes you enjoy Monstermania!

Torie Pate (Lawanda) is an actor, singer, director, and teaching artist. She is excited to be back on the Falcon stage having appeared in Poor Behavior (Maureen) & A Streetcar Named Desire (Eunice). She is also Co-Artistic Director & the Education Director for Cincinnati LAB Theatre. Torie has been with LAB since 2017, when she performed in Led Thespian (in Cincinnati and at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe). Other LAB credits include Married Life (director), The Philosophy of Cavemen (director), Pirouette (Judith), Why Good Things Happen to Bad People (Yolanda), Dog (director), & Four Horses (Pestilence) at the 2021 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Torie is also a teaching artist (drama and visual art) with the Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center in Covington.

Diana Rogers (Maggie) is having a blast doing Monstermania at Falcon with old friends and new. Recently Diana appeared in Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens, with Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati. A Cincinnati native, Diana recently returned after 22 years in Florida.  She’s loving this cool, fall weather and is hoping the upcoming winter weather will be kind. Happy Halloween!

Deb Schubert (June Dracula) is thrilled to be making her debut on the Falcon stage!  Deb is a regular on the Cincinnati theater scene having played leading roles in Les Miserables (Madame Thénardier), Evita (Eva Perón), Elf The Musical (Emily), Jekyll & Hyde (Lucy), Hairspray (Velma Von Tussel), Legally Blonde The Musical (Paulette), 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Rona) and many more.  By day, Deb has spent the past 38 years in marketing at Procter & Gamble and is beyond proud of her two boys (now full-fledged adults), Alex and Brett!  Deb would like to thank her amazing husband, Tom, for making her laugh daily and their fluffy son, Guinness, for being the bestest boy!  Enjoy the show!

Lesley Taylor (Glinda) is happy to be performing with Falcon Theater for the first time. As a local actress and singer, she has enjoyed gracing the stages of The Carnegie, The Incline Theatre, The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati, The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, and La Comedia Dinner Theatre, to name a few. Favorite roles include Dolly in Hello, Dolly!, Tonya in Mama Mia, Miss Mona in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Frau Blucher in Young Frankenstein the Musical, Diana in Next to Normaland the title role in The Drowsy Chaperone. She has also enjoyed being a featured singer with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra for the past 20 years. Happy Halloween everyone!

Some of Dylan’s most recent credits include performing in the ETC production of Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens, and Xavier University’s productions of Heathers (J.D.) and Chicago (Mary Sunshine). Dylan has a degree in theatre performance from Xavier University and is grateful to be utilizing it. He thanks Sherry, Gina, the cast, and Falcon for being so welcoming.

Wayne Wright (Ward Dracula) has been haunting theatrical venues in the area for many years and is delighted to continue his reign of terror here at Falcon. He has tested local audiences patience and perseverance with his many attempts on stage, and thought Halloween was the perfect time to share his dubious talents, experiment in stretching his abilities, and to see just how far to test the mass suffering. Whelmed theatergoers in the tri-state are still scratching their heads in disbelief after witnessing his performances. Some of his recent manifestations have been seen in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Peter Pan, Chicago, La Cage au Folles , Matilda and more productions of The Fantastiks than he can remember. In keeping with the season, he would like to wish everyone a very Happy Halloween!!
