Every year, as I put together this message, I look back at what I wrote the previous year.  Most years my comments are all about our season and what we’ve built for the year ahead and while that’s still true, the world in which we’re living has changed.  Our world is darker and more dangerous now.  We’re standing on a precipice at this moment in American history and only the future will tell us how we, as a country and a people, will choose to respond.

As I look at the plays we’ve selected for our 2025-26 season, they all reflect this world in some way.  Every play in our season is, again, a premiere for the Greater Cincinnati area with several of these titles coming from across the Atlantic.  Yet despite some plays being written in different countries, they all speak loudly and clearly about the challenges and dangers we face in America right now.

The topics are wide ranging…from gun violence to ecological issues…from historical perspectives to future times we can only imagine…but each one in its own way addresses something urgent and important that’s facing us right now.

However this is not a season of doom…far from it!  It’s an exciting, energized season of plays that explore powerful topics in fascinating, often funny or even absurdist ways.  Theatre has never been more important than it is right now and each play we’ve selected for this season contains a message of past, present and future that speaks to current events while at the same time transcending them.

Cast Biographies

Kaitlin McCulloch (Bell) Kaitlin is thrilled to be making her Falcon debut, especially in such a prescient play. An NKU alum, her recent credits include Rosalind in As You Like It and Berthe in Boeing-Boeing. She would like to thank her family and friends for their unwavering support.

Ella Prather ( Steph) Ella is incredibly excited to be making her Falcon debut as Steph in A Girl in School Uniform. A recent NKU alum, you may have seen her in roles such as Simon Zealot in Jesus Christ Superstar, Viola in Twelfth Night, #13 in The Wolves, and French Constable in Henry V. She would like to thank Sam for letting her revisit her roots as a bratty teen and Kaitlin for being the best bartender (and castmate) a girl could ask for. 

Production Team Biographies

Samantha Joy Weil (Director) Samantha holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Northern Illinois University. She was recently on Falcon’s stage performing András Visky’s Juliet in December. Some of Samantha’s other favorite past roles include Stephanie in POTUS, Lisa in Well, Gretchen in Boeing-Boeing, and Eden in During/After. She wrote, produced, and performed Meet Me at the BathtubThe short life and tumultuous times of Charlotte Corday for Cincy Fringe 2024. Last season, Sam made her directorial debut with Hangmen at Falcon Theatre, alongside her best friend, hero, and husband. She is ecstatic to make her solo directorial debut with this impactful script and talented cast and crew! You can see her again on Falcon Theatre’s stage in March in Crocodile Fever. She is passionate about folk herbalism and her dog, Nellie Bly. Sam would like to thank her family for always going the extra mile to support and cheer her on. She is infinitely grateful to her amazing husband, Ted, for his unwavering love and ability to make every moment brighter.

Ben Dudley (Stage Manager) Ben is a writer and performer from Cincinnati. Since earning his master’s in creative writing, he has worked as a teacher, a copywriter, and an editor of books and articles. His writing credits include the plays Occupational Pleasures, Home, and The Opinions of Men: A Stupid History of the Protestant Reformation. As an actor, he has appeared in shows at the Know Theatre and Falcon Theatre, in addition to his own Fringe Festival productions. Lulu Razcka (Playwright):  Lulu is an award-winning writer. For television, Lulu has written on shows including RIVIERA (Archery/Sky), MEDICI (Big Light/Sky), and for Apple, Disney and Amazon. She is currently writing her debut feature film.  Her adaptation of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, starring Harris Dickinson and Marisa Abela, produced by Brock Media, is available now on Audible. In theatre, she was Company Director of Barrel Organ, with whom she worked on her first play, NothingNothing was awarded The Sunday Times Playwriting Award as well as the National Student Drama Festival Award for Creative Risk. Some People Talk About V.
